About Jon Reardon

Insects have influenced many aspects of my life, from raising moths in childhood to creating my own collection in college, so they have been a consistent source of inspiration for my career choices. My photographic journey began when my grandfather handed me my first Canon DSLR to photograph insects on our family trips. As I grew up, refining my interests and career goals, marine conservation took center stage, but insects remained an active interest. After the pandemic struck and everyone's mental health took a serious downturn, insects became a beacon of hope for self-improvement by reconnecting with one of my first passions, but I was reminded that insects need help too.

My professional experience with photography is ongoing, but I have years of experience working with film and paper as an employee of a local film production lab. This website contains my best macrophotography images of a variety of insects local to my area and other on going projects. Utilizing different angles and natural lighting, I seek to capture and present the face of the insect to add some personality to the image and help create the connection I am looking for so that the viewer will be inspired to seek similar insects around them.
